Ultimate 2026 Visa Fee Calculator: Your Complete Guide to Global Travel Costs

Planning an international trip, whether for tourism, business, or family visits, requires careful budgeting. One of the most critical and often confusing parts of travel preparation is understanding the exact cost of your visa.

Visa fees are rarely straightforward; they often include base application costs, biometric fees, service charges from third-party processors and dynamic exchange rates.

To take the guesswork out of your travel budget we designed the Visa Fee Calculator 2026.  This interactive tool provides accurate, real time breakdowns of official visa fees for five major destinations: the United States, the Schengen Area, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia

Below, we dive deep into everything you need to know about international visa fees, currency conversions, and how to use our tool to plan your next journey.

How to Use the Visa Fee Calculator

Our calculator is designed to give you a comprehensive, real time breakdown of your total application costs. Here is how you can use it to get the most accurate estimate:

  1. Select Your Destination: Choose between the US, Schengen, UK, Canada or Australia tabs.

  2. Input Applicant Details: Select the visa type, applicant age and nationality group where applicable.

  3. Add Family Members: Adjust the "Number of Applicants" to see bundled costs and potential family discounts.

  4. Include Extra Fees: Toggle checkboxes to include biometrics or regional service center fees (like VFS Global or BLS).

  5. Select Your Currency: Choose to display your final total in USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, or AUD to understand your costs in a familiar currency.

United States Visa Fees Breakdown

Navigating U.S. immigration and travel costs can be complex. For non-immigrant visas, costs vary depending on the purpose of your travel.

The most common is the B1/B2 Tourist/Business visa which currently carries a base MRV (Machine Readable Visa) fee of $185. For specialized workers, such as those seeking an H1B, it's important to note the transition from h1b visa fees 2025 to the current 2026 structures.

Temporary workers (H, L, O, P, Q, R categories) have a base fee of $205 , while E Treaty Traders/Investors pay $315.

If you are planning to get married in the US, the K Fiancé(e) visa fee is $265. Furthermore, as of 2025/2026, many applicants must also account for the new Visa Integrity Fee (VIF), which adds $250 per person if applicable.

When it is time to officially submit your application, you will pay visa fee ds-160 (the online non-immigrant visa application form) via the embassy's designated payment portal.

Note that our calculator focuses primarily on non-immigrant categories; the immigrant visa fee (for those seeking permanent residency or Green Cards) involves entirely different fee structures, including petition fees and domestic processing costs.

Europe: Schengen Visa Costs and Service Fees

Traveling to the 29 European countries in the Schengen Area requires a Schengen Visa for many nationalities. The base fee for a standard adult (12 years and older) is typically €90. However, the Schengen system has distinct age tiers: children aged 6–11 years pay a reduced rate of €45 and children under 6 are processed for free..

Your nationality also plays a significant role. Citizens of countries with a Facilitated Visa Agreement (such as Albania, Armenia, Georgia, Ukraine and others) enjoy a reduced base fee of €40.

It is crucial to remember that you rarely pay just the embassy fee. Most European embassies outsource the collection of documents and biometrics to third-party agencies. Using our tool, you can automatically add the estimated VFS/BLS service fee, which averages about €35 per person.

United Kingdom Visa Application Costs

The UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) department structures its visitor visa fees based strictly on the duration of the visa granted. Unlike the Schengen visa, which is usually tailored to your specific travel dates, the UK offers standard multi-entry validity periods.

Our tool calculates the following UK visitor visa durations:

  • Short-term (up to 6 months): £127

  • Long-term (2 years): £475

  • Long-term (5 years): £848

  • Long-term (10 years): £1,059

If you are applying as a family of four for a 6-month holiday, the total cost will simply be the short-term fee multiplied by four. Use the UK tab to quickly calculate these bundled family costs.

Canada Visitor Visa and Biometric Fees

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) provides a very family-friendly fee structure. The base cost for a standard visitor visa is $100 CAD per person. However, Canada caps the visitor visa fee at $500 CAD for families of five or more applying at the same time.

Almost all applicants must also provide biometrics (fingerprints and a photo). The biometric fee is $85 CAD per person but like the visa fee, it features a family maximum cap of $170 CAD for two or more family members applying together. Our calculator automatically applies these family discount thresholds when you increase the applicant count and check the biometrics box.

Australia Subclass 600 Visa Fees

For those looking to visit Australia for tourism or business visitor activities, the Subclass 600 Visitor Visa is the standard route. The Department of Home Affairs heavily incentivizes applying from outside the country.

If you are applying from outside Australia (offshore), the fee is AUD 200. However, if you are already inside Australia (onshore) and looking to extend your stay or apply for a new Subclass 600 visa, the fee jumps significantly to AUD 500.

(Note: If you are searching for information on the temporary skill shortage 482 visa, please be aware that this calculator is strictly for visitor and standard temporary entry visas. The 482 visa involves employer sponsorship fees, nomination fees, and different base applicant costs).

To process your payment and submit your application for Australia, you will need to create an immi login through the official ImmiAccount portal.

Understanding Currency and Exchange Rates

One of the standout features of our tool is the multi-currency display. Because visa fees are priced in the host country's currency (USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD), travelers often struggle to understand the actual cost in their own bank's currency.

If you're worried about the visa currency conversion fee charged by your credit card, our tool provides a solid baseline using approximate 2026 exchange rates. Keep in mind that while our tool gives a highly accurate estimate the exact amount deducted from your bank account will depend on the visa exchange rate today as set by the embassy on the day of your interview or the day you submit your online payment.

Important Disclaimers and Next Steps

  • Non-Refundable: Visa application fees are almost universally non-refundable, regardless of whether your visa is approved or denied.

  • Additional Costs: The calculator covers base MRV, biometric, and standard service fees. However, depending on your nationality, you may be subject to additional reciprocity fees (issuance fees) once the visa is approved.

  • Verification: Always double-check the final amounts on the official embassy or consulate website before making any payments.

Using the Visa Fee Calculator 2026 helps you plan your travel budget with confidence, ensuring you aren't hit with surprise biometric or service charges at the last minute.
